![]() ![]() Despite the terrible risks they have to take and the occasional hilarious crossing of boundaries, these three women have come together for one purpose: the hope of a better day. The storyline, in a nutshell, is the story of two African-American maids Aibileen and Minny in 1960s Mississippi and how the lives they lead, complete with racism, inequality, and brutality, are told by Skeeter, a white girl who has just returned home after finishing college and wants to be a writer. Together, these seemingly different women come together to work on a project that could change their destiny and the life of a small town forever: Write, secretly a book that tells all about what it is like to work as a black maid on the street. Normally, the skater would feel comfortable in Constantine, the beloved girl that raised him, but Constantine inexperiencedly disappeared. ![]() And the white socialite seeker had just returned from college with ambition and a degree but, to her mother’s chagrin, had no husband. Her friend Minnie certainly never held her tongue or worked long hours, but now she’s working for a secret new job that leaves her speechless. He has always accepted silent orders, but lately, it leaves him with a bitterness that he can no longer contain. Aibileen was a black woman who raised Mississippi, Jackson, and her seventeenth white child in 1972. ![]()
